Trail Running, Guara Ultra Trail
This sport has gained many followers in recent years and Guara is the perfect place to do this sport throughout the year. Its fantastic orography made up of steep slopes and dramatic descents with trails and canyons make Guara a challenging terrain for trail running. There are specialized events such as training camps or training weeks that normally take place between March and June. In October, the increasingly popular Guara Ultra Trail competition is held. There are many possibilities in the area to do trail running and there are also two sporting events held in Somontano: the Guara Somontano Ultra-trail in October and the Sierra de la Carrodilla trail in June. The competition in Guara is part of Spain Ultra Cup. In Guara Ultra Trail there are three routes of differing lengths, elevation gains and difficulty so that no one will be left out. These routes are: Ultra Trail with 102 km and 6,100 m elevation gain, Long Trail with 50 km and 3,000 m elevation gain and Trail with 38 km and 2,000 m elevation gain. In addition to these routes there is also a shorter trail of just 13 km in the vicinity of the town of Alquézar. As well as these competitions, there are other competitions held around Guara such as the North of Guara Trail, the Climb to Tozal de Guara and Guara Integral.
Guara territory is suitable for trail running due to the diversity of its landscape
ORTH OF GUARA TRAIL: A short test that is accessible for everyone. Created to introduce the least daring of cyclists to the world of mountain competitions. The trail is 11 km long and has around 500 m of total elevation gain. The trail passes through mid-mountainous areas, along winding paths through the canyons and forests of the north face of the Tozal de Guara. THE CLIMB TO TOZAL DE GUARA: A simple and classic mountain route that ascends to the summit of Tozal de Guara (2,077 m) to make a dramatic descent to Nocito (930 m). A circular route with a very simple concept: go up and go down. A very fast and extremely beautiful trail the length of a half marathon. GUARA INTEGRAL: A 42-km race with 2,900 m of total elevation gain that takes you on an absolutely spectacular route. It starts with a descent through the Guara gorges, ascends to the summit of Montidinera, follows the long, technical and impressive crest of Fragineto and finally reaches the top of the Tozal de Guara. It is a really tough marathon-length test that is extremely rewarding. This is a trail that will test you and make you fall in love at the same time. You can also take part in the Hoya de Huesca Trail with two available routes, a 16-km route with 150 m elevation gain and a 25 km route with 550 m elevation gain.
